Hasn't stopped Liborio's from being open for years in NOLA, or Union Supermarket from selling pastelitos de guayaba and Cuban sandwiches when they were on Carrollton. I think location plays a big part, I used to go to this decent place in Metairie that lasted less than a year.
Most of the people who eat at Cuban restaurants in NOLA generally aren't Cuban. I think a small Cuban cafe would do well in Baton Rouge over time.
