what sort of booze are you wanting to start with.
I have made some killer vodkas for bloody marys or spicy martinis with garlic jalapenos and pearl onions. I use sobieski which is fairly cheap, but not rot gut.

I have done some research and read some vodka's, whiskey's and rum, mainly just seeing what others use for ingredients.

I'll go ahead and temporary ban myself for posting this on the F&D Board, but we have made the Skittles Vodka before. It was pretty easy. I used some mason jars. I separated the colors and made some of each. You just put them in a jar with vodka, shake it pretty good, and then just soak them in the vodka for a while, then strain it so the white gooey centers are removed, then put it in the freezer. I'm not 100% certain that was all that was involved, but a quick Google search will give you the recipe. The red was really good, the purple was alright, the orange and yellow wasn't worth it, and the green I remember being a little tart at first, but if you're using it as a mixer and not doing shots, then it is okay with a splash of sprite over rocks. I'm not sure why we tried this, but I remember doing it for the Bama/LSU BCS game and we all did shots with it. I used some 100 Proof vodka. Probably Smirnoff. I didn't want to waste something expensive on it.

I make orange infused vodka (2 handles) every year. Solves two problems-what to do with so many freaking oranges off my tree, and my well established alcohol problem. Win/Win. I've really been looking to make more of an Orangecello/Grand Mariner type of drink but have been too busy with HS sports and chasing rare craft beer and bourbon to do any research.

Best infusions I have done:
Mint/Rosemary Vodka - this is outstanding. tried it in Minnesota at Hell's Kitchen (no relation to the show), and I had to try it. I don't remember how much of each
Cinimon Apple: This was great too. I used grannys and real cinn stix.
Vanilla: can never go wrong with this.
One thing I do with my infusions is put a tad bit of simple syrup in the bottle when I am done. Not much, but just enough to bring out the flavors of the fruits and plants. I know this is probably frowned upon, but I don't care
