We are thinking of taking a trip (Fri-Mon) there in a couple of weeks & was looking for some advice on where to stay (hotel in the city or cabin on the outskirts), where to eat, & what to do. Neither of us has ever been & was hoping to get some trip/food ideas. TIA

We just got back from there a week or so ago. Stayed on Lake Hamilton. I really enjoyed it. Were only about 10 minutes from downtown, but I spent most of my time out on the lake. Here is were we stayed and it was awesome, but is probably more than you are looking for if it's just you two. I'm sure you can find something smaller on the lake if that's what yall are in to..

Rolando's is good and McClards is a classic, but BBQ is so subjective. Ribs are better than the pulled pork.

ETA: While I've heard good things about the Arlington Spa, stay away from staying at the hotel or eating in the restaurant. Both are in need of a facelift.

There's a Million condos on the lake to rent, all you need to know is to go to smileys around 11 and eat before you go.
