It's Holiday themed and I'm resposible for the entree. I'm trying to stay away from the traditional turkey but I would still like to do some sort of stuffed bird. Feeding 10-12 people and trying to stay under $50.

Any ideas? How many people do those stuffed chickens at Chris' Specialty Meats feed?

Well everyone is bringing a side dish so it doesn't have to feed everyone entirely.

Looks like you'll be ordering Domino's or Pizza hut then

Eta: I spoke too soon. 50 for a main course is doable

A fun and simple app that you can prep the day before is bacon wrapped water chestnuts. Cut the strips of bacon so that they just fit around the diameter of the water chestnut with enough overlap to fasten with a toothpick. Whack it into the oven on a baking sheet until the bacon crisps up, and you can thank me later. It's an incredibly easy app to prep, and this one gets some of the best reviews. Last time I made these they were absolutely devoured.

Your best bet depending on what the sides will be. Are you going to know what those are before choosing the main course?

I roast the whole pork loin with some garlic and rosemary. I love that with pork loin. You could get the bone in to keep it more moist.

Call around to some meat markets and price them. You should be able to find them easily or get one ordered.

Get a couple boneless legs of lamb, marinate overnight in some olive oil, lemon juice, salt and pepper and your choice of herbs. Grill till med rare in middle.

You can pick them up from Sam's for under $5 a pound I think. Usually they run around 3lbs each. Get three and have and awesome dinner.

I love lamb. I might just do that this weekend.

i'd personally pick up 2 stuffed chickens from chris's. they are delicious, boneless, and hard to mess up.

you could get the cornbread one and one with either shrimp or crawfish.

you could even lie and say you made them
