I saw this kit on sale at Target, so I bought it to make a gallon batch for fun. Usually I make cider, so I have an air lock, but this thing had a cap for the fermenter that you plug a tube into, and you put the other end of the tube in a cup of water. That is the airlock, I guess. I did that. Anyway, some fuxking idiot (me) knocked the tube out of the water, and it was like that for like 6 hours. It was still fermenting. It was the day after the day that it was REALLY fermenting like crazy.

Is it ruined?

Not ruined. It'll be fine. It's really hard to mess up a beer.

That set up is called a blowoff tube. Thats the way I ferment all my beer.....except instead of water I use sanitizer in a small bucket (actually an old Oxyclean plastic container) and I clip the tube to the side of the small bucket with a binder clamp (paper clamp).

Nope, if it was fermenting, then it would be blowing out enough CO2 to prevent anything from getting in.

Like BMoney said, it's hard to mess it up. I've had that happen before, and also had a real vigorous fermentation actually knock off the top part of a three-piece airlock, all turned out fine.

Yeah this came with a clip, but like a jagoff I thought it would be fine without it.

I kind of like it better than the airlock though. Might do it with the next cider.
