both closed in BR around the same time -- maybe bennington closed a little earlier .. and i am pretty sure the one in NOLA shut down ages ago .. didn't realize they were involved with zea's to be honest ..

I asked the server what cut if steak was the special. He said ribeye. The special said ny strip. I got my steak and it was a strip. Just cuz the waiter says something, doesn't mean it's true.

However, that falls on the restaurant to keep a knowledgeable wait staff and train them.

and dude .. with the revolving door of staff he had in the less than a year, you just can't keep a steadily trained staff ...

i think i went twice .. when it first opened .. it was like any place .. it was good .. they had everything rolling .. i never judge restaurants that just open on my first visit and take reviews written about such with a grain of salt ... my next visit was about four months later and the slide had obviously begun .. i noticed around august that there were hardly EVER any cars in the lot and pass that spot many many times a day ..

Most of these folks were yankees, and I think it was the idea of combining pasta with crawfish and "our stuff" that really floated their boat!

I see your point, but I wasn't gonna order the dish to test the theory or anything.
I mean, I should be able to trust the server. In theory, at least.

I totally agree. It is very frustrating when the server does not know a thing about the food the restaurant serves.

i'm not understanding this story about him opening a concession stand or whatever over at the old shenandoah country club clubhouse .. i have never heard of that ... must be the new downsizing of the 21st century .. that's exactly what i want after a good workout or three sets of tennis ... a steaming bowl of pumpkin soup ..

I was more focusing on the uninformed wait staff. And I used an example that happened to me personally to show that if the waiter didn't know the answer, then they just made something up.

It's not really about hitching a wagon to a place. I gain nothing if he does well, nor do I lose anything if he doesn't.

I pimped his place so hard in the beginning because he made fresh, good tasting food. I think a problem was in the beginning he was serving pretty high priced meats and produce at large portions for a cheap price. It only took a month or so for portion size to decrease and prices to slightly rise.

That said, just like Johnny D's, it sucks that another local place is falling on hard times. Especially since it was doing so well in the beginning.

No one on here should be celebrating the fact that they are closing down and they predicted it.

i don't think anyone is .. and i personally have said time and time again, it is never good for BR for any business to fail ... it creates yet another vacant shell of a building which will have weeds growing around it .. another latter & blum sign .. one less collector of city-parish sale taxes .. people out of a job .. an owner now up to their eyeballs in debt that could handcuff them for the next 10 years .. etc ..
