Burger places that aren't high end are a lot like sushi places that aren't high end. The "best one" is the one that each individual finds that just clicks with their tastes and they become comfortable with.

Just look when people talk about the best burger in Laffy on this board. You'll see different reasonable people claim the same certain places have either the best or the worst burgers in town.

I've seen people on here swear by backyard burger while others trash it. Same with Bud's. Same with in and out. At the very least those places should be appreciated for being pretty good at what they do and 10x better than Burger King/Wendy's/Mcdonald's.

And their fries taste like fries should if they are fried right? I don't know what "flavor" you expected from fresh cut fries...)

we have 2 here in nashville. both are in extremely upper-class areas and are considered a more 'elite' restaurant so i doubt thats it.

Rich people with an expensive investment can run crappy restaurants. Chains are known to vary greatly from different ownership and management. It only takes a lack of emphasis on proper training by the local management.

When I was young, my first steak at a Ruth's Chris was out of state, and the steak was cooked poorly. Even at 14 I wasn't assuming that all Ruth Chris's overcook steaks to well when you ask for medium rare.
