this. I was thinking the same thing. I think Wendys has better fries too.
For fresh cut fries at five guys they aren't great. I got the cajun fries, and there was nothing cajun about them.....at all, which brings me to a huge pet peeve. I hate when places use the word Cajun to imply it's going to be spicy or well seasoned...it never is

My first Five Guys burger experience was in New York from my time interning there, now those were some damn good burgers. Maybe it's a different taste and experience out here, but I haven't been to the ones in BR since I moved away.
I've tried Fuddruckers in Austin, In-N-Out in LA, Roul's/Akasha Market and I much prefer Five Guys, but to each their own. My biggest complaint lies with their prices....I mean c'mon.

i love there fries and the whole fresh potato thing. but sonic has a better burger than 5 guys.

I used to go to Five Guys when they had ONE location in Arlington, Virginia. That was one fabulous hamburger because you could get any toppings you wanted at no extra charge, but most importantly their buns were baked locally and were more like dinner rolls.
Now they have franchised and destroyed their original product. Five Guys is not what it started out as. Don't dump 1/2 pound of French fries in the sack just give me a good burger.
Five Guys sucks.
