Just wondering what your favorite thing to cook in a Dutch oven is. I just got my first one last weekend. Cooked some pastalya and gumbo so far. Gonna try out some chicken and dumplings tonight. Just looking for more ideas.

As a former Boy Scout dad/leader, we got a fair amount of training in dutch oven cooking (campfire), as the dutch oven is quite versatile.

You can do a nice breakfast casserole/hash by browning some breakfast sausage, then stirring in some (scrambled) eggs, topping that mixture with shredded cheese, then topping that with half-biscuits, put the lid on, put a few hot pieces of wood or charcoal on the lid and cook for 10-15 minutes.

The most surprisingly good/bestest thing you can cook in a dutch oven is any cobbler: peach cobbler, blueberry cobbler, etc....basically a cake mix with cans of fruit filling, but quite a treat.

I am convinced that more short ribs is the secret to healing the world.
