Alot of places that are "The Best" according to the Times really isn't the best. IMO.
Don's being one of them.
Like stated before. It's really good. But not the best

The last batch of boudin that was brought over from Don's was the best boudin I have ever had. If what they tested was made that day or in that batch I would wholeheartedly agree with their assessment.

Man I got billys last weekend and it was good as usual but really bland.. Dunno if it was a bad batch or what but boudin should never be bland.

Yes Billy's was the clear cut winner, but all 7 of the places I stopped had a good product imo. First time I've ever had Billy's. My buddy from Laffy has brought both Don and the Best Stop folks to our hunting camp a few times and they would load me up with their stuff. Don's boudin seems to be really consistent while Best Stop seems to vary a good bit depending on the batch. The Best Stop boudin I got the other day was the best I've ever had from them..

eta- Billy's in Kroltz Springs didn't seem nearly as good as the one in Scott.

their smoked sausage is by far the best i've ever had. you can smell the smoke flavor when you cut open the package. i know its out the way unless you are going to houston. thats why i always bring an ice chest and load up when i pass that way.

Don's is honestly some of the worse boudin I have ever had. It is always very very greasy, verry salty, and full of chunks of fat and gristle. My in laws picked up a box recently and I ate half a link and threw the rest away.

I used to stop every time I passed for a couple balls and a tall-boy. Hard to beat. They had a trailer set up at the Balloon Fest last weekend and I finally got to try the pepper jack roll-up. That was pretty great.

Don's has a very different and distinguishable flavor than most of the others.

Based on a blind taste test at the boudin cookoff a few years back

My 6 year old boy said that pepper jack boudin egg roll thing was the best thing he's ever ate. That thing is awesome.

I don't know off hand, but I'm generally accustomed to seeing your handle and just moving on.
