yes. that's a good burner to cook a sauce. you need to get one with a jet and not a burner.

I have this kind of burner that I use for boiling with my large pot.

LINK ==

IMO..... it is the best. It premixes air with the propane, so it is quiet compared to the loud jet burners. All premix style burners use a lot less propane. It is rated at 220,000 BTU's, so it is about the same capacity of the jet burners.

Another important factor for the burner /cooker/ boiler is the design of the cooking stand. What I am referring to is mainly the distance from the burner flame to the bottom of the pot. The first picture in this post, shows a stand where the pot looks to be 4 or 5 inches above the burner. This might work ok for "cooking" because the flame is farther away and less likely to burn what you are cooking. BUT..... this design would not be good for boiling because the pot is too far away from the pot. For boiling, the flame needs to be just barely touching the pot.

The big round burners are good, but check to see how the stand is designed. I would not buy the big round design burner for cooking because it puts out way too much heat.

Someone said they have problem with "burning" the bottom of the pot and it is hard to clean. A trick I learned when cooking on a campfire.... cover the bottom and a little up the sides of the pot with liquid soap. When you are finished cooking, the black shoot comes of very easy.
