Thanks to Ruzil's thread, I had to make it back to Omi and try some new stuff. The experience was as pleasant as always. Very nice waiter. He even explained the specials written in Chinese on the front entrance chalkboard.

Hot & Sour Soup. This was the "small." By far the best H&S soup I've ever had. The bowl was the size of a normal bowl of Pho. That is actually a ladle, not a spoon.

Garlic Sauce Eggplant (often discussed here, first time I tried it). I'm not an eggplant fan. Not sure why. I think I've just had some bad eggplant growing up. This was by far the best eggplant I've ever had. Very lightly coated and fried with a thin shell and sweet garlic sauce coating. The combo of textures and flavors was craveable. The picture doesn't do the scale justice. Each piece was about the size of an egg. This is a mountain of eggplant on the plate.

Hot Oil Beef - Very good, not as hot as you might imagine. Similar sichuan flavor with garlic, peppers and cilantro. Lean beef, bok choy, mushrooms and other unidentifiable veg. It was very good, but I prefer the chong qing chicken and cumin pork personally.

Rage

I also got the Hot and Sour Soup (forgot to take a pic) and thought it was damn good.

My standard to judge hot and sour soup is the one at Chinese Kitchen on Carrolton in New Orleans. Omi's was very good but a different style than what I generally prefer.

Great job with the pics!
