Coney Dog - should it be necessary to eat it with a fork?

Had one of these recently at a food truck. I needed a fork to finish the second half of it. It was frickin' delicious, but I'm glad I wasn't in my car.

I almost always start with a fork, and finish with my hands.

It’s more like a chili bowl with a dog. I could see needing a fork.

It took me a minute to try to figure out how to pick that sucker up. I eventually opted to leave it in the foil, so I wouldn't lose any chili. Some still dripped off the back end.
