Consuming many 100 lbs of fried chicken there over the years.

Between this and Chuck Lee's closing, this may be the worst month in Donaldsonville history. Grapevine and the Chance hanging in there thankfully.

Going to miss the plate lunches. Especially the baked chicken, rice dressing & cornbread.

Are you referring to "The First and Last Chance"? My dad was from Donaldsonville and always talked about that place. Don't know if he actually went there because my grandma wouldn't have been happy.. From what I remember he talked about it as a barroom.. Probably around the late 1930's...

That's the place. It is a restaurant but has a bar which is not something they have a lot of in Donaldsonville. Fantastic hamburger steaks with red gravy.
