I’ve used the oven multiple times but not on self clean.
Do it the same the way as amateur seasoning method put crank it up. Oil the pan, flip upside down on top rack, foil on bottom rack. 450-500’ for an hour.

Just omit the wire wheel. No serious or knowledgeable collector would ever do this. Contrary to what he said, a good eye can see if a piece of iron has been wire/sand paper brushed. A $100 piece can go to a $20 user or a good trot line weight quickly. Not sure what kind of 'guru' he is. He had one of the easiest recognizable skillets out there to identify and he didn't know what it was!!!
