Where I live there are no jarred roux's, thought this might be good, but do I need to add vegetables or just some smoked sausage/chicken?

I’d bet my life there’s a recipe on the bottle.

“Slap Ya Mama Etouffe Sauce”
Wouldn’t make gumbo with that, if that’s your plan. For etouffe knock yourself out.
FWIW, make your own “jarred” roux in the oven. It’s foolproof and will last forever in fridge. 2:1 flour to oil, 400F stir every 15 min until you get it as dark as you want it. Let it cool, jar, refrigerate. Done. Add to boiling stock stirring until incorporated. Proceed from there.

Dice a half onion . half a bell pepper and a stick of celery . Sautee In olive oil . When veggies are soft add mix and follow directions from there . A little crystal hot sauce when served over rice .

Depending on how much effort, time and ingredients you've got to give, you can do anything from what's on the jar, which will come out fine, to what Tigre ^^ above said which is sort of "doctoring it up" a bit which will come out even better while also helping to stretch that jar out further.
