Forget the *set*. Get what you *need*

My personal rec:
- 2QT Stainless Pot (All Clad, Sur La Table, Viking, etc.) - Veggies
- 4QT Stainless Pot (See above) - Pasta, Sauces
- 8QT Stainless Pot (See above) - Pasta, Beans, Stews
- 8QT Cast Iron Dutch Oven (Lodge, Staub, La Creuset, etc) - Gumbo, Jambalayas
- 10" Stainless Skillet - Sautéing
- 10" Cast Iron Skillet - Pan frying

Beside black cast iron, I think Magnalite's probably the best that was available when our grandparents were coming up. If my grandparents were alive, I have no doubt mine would enjoy Le Creuset and All Clad.
