Probably need Zappas Stache input here,
Buddy of mine will only get COOPs DNR, Dark Belgium Ale.
What other beers can I show him that compare to this beer, we are in DFW area so that might limit us to what is out there.

You mean local belgian darks (begian dubbel or quad)? Honestly, I haven't had a good local belgian dubble or quad as they are all too sweet.....I do have a homebrew quad that turned out good.... And I haven't had that Coops. For me, the benchmark for that style, other than Westvleteren which you can't get here, is Westmalle Dubbel. Its a begian trappist dubbel so not local. Unibroe Maudite (canada but available here) is really good as is Ommengang Abbey and Three Philosophers. (new york but available here).

I am glad you chimed in. They are too sweet for me as well, but now I have a few and maybe I can introduce him to some new beers.
Thanks again for the help.
