I'm not gonna get too fancy with this review, but I did want to write a few quick notes regarding this experience.

The restaurant itself is nice. Kinda small, but very airy, clutter free, and comfortable. The bar is tiny (4 seats at the bar, and two or three high tops in the bar area) but looks gorgeous.

Bread and butter: It's for wusses. Beausoleil decided to go with cracklins instead and they were awesome. Not greasy, nice amount of spice. I wanted to take a bag of them home.

Drinks: I had an Old Fashioned, and it's the best I've ever had. They make their own cane syrup in house to sweeten it. The perfect mix of sweet, spicy, and...bourbony. (Is that a word? It is now!) My wife had something with champagne and house made limoncello and another one with blueberries and something else. Didn't taste the first, but the blueberry one was awesome. Very evident that the blueberries and juice were fresh.

Apps: Wife just wanted a salad, so got that. Looked great for what it was, but nothing fancy. I had the mussel appetizer, and was really, really impressed by it. Mussels topped with fries and a saffron aioli. The fries, mussels, and aioli were awesome, but what really stole the show as the broth. Sweet tomatoes, vinegary capers, salty olives swimming in delicious brothy goodness. After I finished the mussels and fries I asked for a soup spoon so as to not let the broth go to waste. It was that freaking good.

Entrees: Wife had a filet topped with fried shallots and chanterelles. I'm normally not a fan of filets, but this thing was awesome. Cooked perfectly, great flavor and texture. I think it's the "beefiest" filet that I've ever tasted.

I had the rabbit. It's not what I was expecting, but it was really, really good. Think of chicken casserole, only 100x tastier. Shredded rabbit with spaetzle, carrots, peas, mushrooms, and a kind of creamy Dijon sauce.

Service was really good, some of the best that I've ever had in BR.

So, appetizer, salad, three drinks, two entrees, desert, and coffee: $105 pre tip. Pretty freaking awesome value, in my opinion.

I highly recommend giving it a shot. I'll be going back as soon as I can.

I heard the portions were not even enough for an anorexic person, is this true?

I found the opposite to be true. I have half of my entree left over for lunch today.

Does Kirk Holder still play music for Brunch?

It's been a few months since we've been but he was playing every time.

If you mean, they're normal portions, and not a falling-off-the-plate CFS with three sides, then yes.

Great write-up! That mussel dish looks awesome.

They really do put a lot of care and concern into their cocktails. They are some of the best and can be very creative too.

They have a wine dinner coming up. Everyone should go!

Good food but small portions. If you are going to serve generous portions the presentation needs to be great. I've been once and haven't been back so the food wasn't spectacular.

People always complain about the portion sizes. To me, they are perfect. Sure, they are smaller than the typical over-sized portion that fat asses love, but a normal diner will not leave hungry. I always leave very satisfied.

The portions were more than enough. You eat too much.

How about I kick you in the balls?

And to the portion size issue...it is just fine. You shouldn't feel overly stuffed after a good meal. This isn't Applebee's or Chili's.

I'm really not understanding how people are complaining about the portions.

Oh my! The chocolate pot de creme is incredible.

Great review! It really is a great place to eat.

I guess the ones who think portions are small, go eat at Ryan's.
