I don’t understand how someone dumb enough to open a shitty failed bar on corporate thinks it’s a good idea to try to take over someone else’s BBQ restaurant. The outcome seems so obvious assuming this story is accurate.

Damn shame. That was the best brisket in town.

Ripped the bandaid off and gave them a try today. Will be my last time as what I received was so subpar it was almost depressing.
Baked beans - canned and cold.
Coleslaw - actually was good
Ribs - chewy, fatty, not smoked. Grilled or oven baked and finished on the grill
Brisket - oven baked quality. No real smoke flavor. Tasted reheated.
BBQ Sauce - tasted from a bottle
You can tell people (and they were very nice inside) just took over a bbq restaurant with no real skill in making great bbq.

Scoreboards was absolutely horrible, so I cannot see how they'd be able to produce a more difficult product (BBQ) anywhere near the standard set by the original Bayou crew.

Apparently so and I can't see that going well unless they brought in an experienced pit master, which I doubt.
From the research I've done, the owners of the building booted them because they claim "issue with customer satisfaction and not having enough food prepared."
From whatever the agreement is, and it sounds shady as hell, the building is keeping the name of the restaurant and will still operate as a BBQ place.
Cannot see this place lasting more than a month or two if this is all the case.
Not only is the takeover of an existing restaurant shady as hell, the owners and their staff flooding local social media with posts about the "new management" that look like they were written by a 90-year-old with a 6th grade education doesn't give me the confidence to believe that place has any chance.
And the random people who are likely friends with the owners hyping it up under their posts just make me more suspicious.

This was how the original Bayou Smokehouse was on Inniswold.
So I have a hard time believing anything was ever good

I didn’t try it until a couple of months before it moved to Coursey. From just before the move until this takeover, the food was incredible. Clearly something changed.
