I agree the coffee is good but for fast food McDonalds has revamped and it's good as well. And my coffee at home is great.

I'll take em but coffee is about all they have going for them.

Then again, I'm not a donut guy.

Well, we were supposed to get a Camelia Grill, Dicky Brennan's steakhouse, and Johnny Rocket's....still waiting.

<--loves Munchkins, no surprise!

Really, I don't eat doughnuts that much, but there's something nostalgic about Dunkin Donuts for me.

What was done to Krispy Kreme in Lafayette?

I think an ambitious expansion after a successful IPO which saw massive amounts of cash spent in a very short period of time followed by a phenomenon known as The Atkins Diet which determined all meat and cheese were fine but donuts were taboo made Krispy Kreme die on the vine.

Not a mediocre local cake donut joint.

Then again as stated above, I'm not a donut guy so what do I know.

Don't forget Drago's... the old man is supposedly still looking for the "right location"

Camelia Grill couldn't raise the capital for expansion, Dicky Brennan could not agree to terms with Mike Wampold who owns Renaisance and Johnny Rockets slowed their expansion due to economy and also the financial situation of Perkins Rowe at the time helped with that decision.

When they shut down many stores years ago the CEO did write a WSJ piece about their over expansion. He also said they failed to size up strong locals and locating around them. Ricky Meche's was mentioned by name. KK was a fad and stood NO chance against Meche's in Laffy.

That would describe the chains. And I'm not a big donut guy either but have had my share. KK/DD against Meche's is about like Red Lobster against local seafood restaurants.
