Most of the grape leaves I have had at Middle Eastern restaurants are the meatless variety. I assume most of these are the premade ones you can buy in a can or jar being that making them is so labor intensive. The ones I remember having at Middle Eastern restaurants in south La. were the meat and rice filled variety. I am going to use a recipe for a Persian version because I find Persian food to be a little more complex of a cuisine that Arab cuisine. I will try to update with pics when I make them Satureday.

I love them things. Especially stuffed with Feta cheese. I like the Rice and Meat variety as well.

Most of the time they are served just at room temperature but if you heat them up a little bit and sprinkle with olive oil, salt, and pepper they are incredible. Interested to see how they turn out.

I was surprised that you cook them for two hours. I never gave it much thought but just assumed you just cooked the feeling and wrapped them.

Do most of the places in Baton Rouge serve the meat and rice variety?

Do they serve them warm? Most of the ones I have had with meat were served warm.

They do serve them warm.
Side question: Where would one find grape leaves in BR?

Usually they are so hot it is hard to eat them. Rolled tight too.
