Anyone compete at Memphis in May?

fill me in. Have some restaurant buds that want to go. Can it be a learning experience for a backyard cook like me? Can you interact with others or do they all hide the ball?
The people I might go with have won some competitions but are not interested in trying to beat people Ike Myron. Just trying to find out if a back yard cook like me would be bored to tears with these restaurant guys?
Also, does anyone know if the winner in ribs ever tried crab boiled skulked ribs?

My buddy does it every year and I went with him one year. It didn't seem like there was a ton of interaction between tents/spaces. But it's a really good time even if you aren't at one of the mega tents.
