Here's the one I use every summer to put up Bread & Butter Pickles:
Slice the cucumbers
Sliced onion
Garlic sliced thin
1/8 cup salt
3 Cups Vinegar
5 Cups Sugar
4 Tbsp. Mustard Seed
2 Tsp. Celery Seed
1 Tsp. Whole Cloves
1 Tbsp. Tumeric
Combine cukes, onion, garlic and salt in a big bowl. Mix well and let sit covered for 2 hours. Pour off liquid and save it when the time is up.
Heat to a boil all other ingredients plus the liquid drained from the soaking.
Pack your clean Mason jars with the cukes, onions and garlic, add hot brine to 1/4 in. from the top of the jars.
Wipe any liquid off the rim of the jars, place the seals and screw on the lids. Place the jars in a hot water bath (no more than 185 degrees) for 15 minutes. Remove and place on a towel to cool and they will form a vacuum. Jars can be stored in a pantry but once opened, refrigerate.
Edited to add this:
There is also a commercial seasoning packet put out by "Mrs. Wages" that can be found in most supermarkets that is pretty foolproof. There are directions on the packet concerning what to add as far as sugar/vinegar and the amount of cucumbers in pounds each packet will pickle.
It can usually be found near the canning jars/lids/food storage part of the store.
