Going to be in Savannah for a few days. What's good in that area?

My wife and I ate at The Grey and thought that it was very good.

eta: This was about a year ago for time frame reference. I assume that they've remained consistent.

The Olde Pink House for dinner without a doubt. Huey's for breakfast/brunch. B. Mathews for breakfast/brunch. Don't ever go to The Pirate's House. Paula Dean's is very underwhelming, very. Leopold's Ice Cream is just ice cream. It's no different than any place else in America. Don't get the long lines night in and night out at that place.

I had the fried lobster tails. Not the worst, but really regretted not getting a steak. We will be back for sure though and I'll be getting that steak. Really cool ambience throughout that place though. We were seated on the upper level in what use to be an old bank vault or something. We never made it to the bar, which is in the basement, but I heard it's a really cool atmosphere in there as well. If you're going with your S.O. I'd highly recommend it.

Was there two weeks ago after the Master's.

The Ordinary Pub was something we stumbled upon and I highly recommend. In a basement, live music in the bar, great drinks and excellent food. There were so many good appetizers on the menu we just ordered all of them for the table.

After dinner, hit up LuLu's Chocolate Bar. Its a drinks and desert place that draws a very diverse crowd. I got the chocolate Manhattan and it was outstanding. Something for everyone at that place.

Friends who live there took us to the Chart House on River Street. I expected a tourist trap crappy dinner but was pleasantly surprised. Had some of the best roast beef I have had in some time. Fish was also excellent.

Lastly, we had a very nice lunch at Paula Deen's The Lady and Sons. Again, I expected touristy but instead got some legit food. Absolutely the best fried okra I have ever had. I didn't think that was a dish that would lend itself to being outstanding but they did something with it. Worth going just for that.

Menu is better than the food. There is a reason it was not on my long list.

And if you go because of the ambiance and history do not get steak. I am not one for hyperbole with restaurants, and it was one of the worst steaks I have had.

WhoDatTigahsTampa, I mean no disrespect. I am glad you liked the Pink House. It just would not be in the top 20 of places I'd take people.
However, the downstairs bar is a great place to get a drink.

These are the places I like the best:

Crystal Beer Parlor for history, beer, food that sticks to your ribs
Alligator Soul for fine dining
Treylor Park or Hitch (same concept/owner)
Flying Monk Noodle Bar if you want Asian
Green Truck if you want a burger
Kayak Cafe for light fare
The Wyld for outdoor marshside eating (small plates)
Distillery

Top Deck (top of Cotton Sail Hotel-for drinks and a view)
Rocks on the Roof (top of Bohemian Hotel-same)

Alley Cat Lounge for underground classic cocktails
In Vino Veritas-very cool wine bar

I tend to enjoy casual more than fine dining though.
I have not been to the Grey but have heard good things.

Glad you enjoyed, but I don't care for it. Chain also.

I forgot to mention Six Pence also. Really like that place.

Are there any places that don't have fried green tomatoes as an app?

I don't think the Golden Corral on Abercorn has them.

It was one of our favorite places.

Definitely have a drink at Top Deck or Rocks on the Roof. Preferably at sundown.
