I didn't know good peaches and nectarines until I moved to NorCal, however I've been getting some Alabama peaches from a guy here on the Northshore, and they are pretty dang good!

It’s prime peach picking season here in Md.
Just finished a perfectly ripe, sweet peach. Fantastic

My mom would go and buy a couple of pecks of what they called overripe peaches. They really weren't over ripe just at peak ripeness and needed to be used right away.

We'd do the same at Lane in Ft. Valley, GA. At peak picking season the peaches that were perfect were too ripe to ship so they were about half the price. We'd buy several boxes and freeze what we didn't eat in the next few days. Best peaches ever, they were incredible with a good vanilla ice-cream.

A really good mango is about as good to me. But they are rare in the States. Forget about those big stringy Mexican imports. The best I've had were when I worked for a plant in Pakistan a couple of times. I'd eat 4 or 5 mangos a day when I was there. I'd call it a tie between them and a perfectly ripe peach.
