Okay I am in need of a good proven Egg Nog recipe. I enjoy Egg Nog every year. I try various types throughout the season and it ends abruptly. Then wait till next year to start my taste testing again. With a previous posting of favorite Christmas drink got me thinking. I guess when I think of Christmas and Egg Nog I think of homemade pot simmering and friends and family all sipping and being merry.

Anyone have a good recipe, alcoholic of course that they are willing to share? Yes, I have looked online but TD FB posts some tasty stuff, thx.

I've been using Alton Brown's recipe for years and it's a hit every time. Although I add way more bourbon than suggested and you can always double the portions for a bigger crowd!

Ingredients

4 egg yolks
1/3 cup sugar, plus 1 tablespoon
1 pint whole milk
1 cup heavy cream
1 1/4 ounces bourbon
1 1/4 ounces dark rum
1 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
4 egg whites

Directions

In the bowl of a stand mixer beat together the egg yolks and 1/3 cup sugar until the yolks lighten in color and the sugar is completely dissolved. Add the milk, cream, bourbon, rum, and nutmeg and stir to combine.

Place the egg whites in the bowl of a stand mixer and beat to soft peaks. With the mixer still running gradually add the 1 tablespoon of sugar and beat until stiff peaks form. Gently fold the egg whites into the mixture. Chill and serve.
