It wasn't a great vintage. It rained, late, so the quLity of any specific wine is totally dependent on where the vineyard is and when they picked. I can't think of any standouts off the top of my head other than Karl Lawrence, and that was an early drinker.

the higher elevation vinyards like pride and kenan and fritz ans spragia are good!!!

Bad rap? I don't think so. Of course there were some good wines made, but overall it was a very down year. But Napa rebounded nicely as 2001 and 2002 were stellar.

Totally agree! Just enjoyed a great bottle otf Renteria Q Hill Cab from the 2000 vintage. Mountain vineyard fruit in the hands of a capable winemaker turned into pretty good juice. Similar situation in the much maligned 1998 vintage.
