With no levee to tie into it seems useless as once the water gets into the trees it is going to go where it wants.

If this project is meant to stop or slow down backwater making its way to Lake Palourde, Bayou L'ourse, Stephensville, etc., why didn't they block Bayou Boeuf South of Amelia where there are already well established bulkheads to tie into, and less chance for water to sneak around and head north?

But it won't do anything about the water coming south from Verret, Palourde. Or am i wrong in thinking that these lakes feed from the North?

They are saying that it will stop the backwater from entering Bayou Chene from the river then feeding into Bayou Beouf, then Lake Palourde, Stephensville, Lake Verret, etc.....also at the same it's supposed to stop the water from entering Bayou Black and flooding East Houma....

they had to do it this way because if not Terrebone parish would have a fit....I dont blame them for at least making an effort, but they know it's a long shot....even the mayor of MC said on WWL this morning that he's hoping for at least just a 1' to be held back......which is unlikely.

The barge in relation to MC is just looking to give them a foot of relief which should reduce water levels enough to spare the city massive flooding. The mayor of MC is a good family friend so I take him at his word.
