No, but the main drainage canal off of the bayou is in their backyard. In other words, we are not far from the bayou. Our worries are that if the water from the bayou fills up the canals (which it is doing already) we will flood.

ETA: The bayou itself isn't very far from the house though.

I think that drains into the Red, so that volume never hits the Mississippi River.

How bad would it be if the canal came up 5 ft.?

Honestly, I think it may be close to overtopping if not actually overtopping.

I know some of the homes there are off the ground, is theirs?

My parents is off the ground. My grandmother's next door isn't. The lots are built up much higher than on the other side of the canal.

Thats a good ways from the river. I would guess the elevation is a little higher on that side of Plank.

The elevation is much higher. The river will not flood us. We are worried about the canals that drain into Monte Sceno backing up and flooding us. Our yard is built up about 1 foot higher than the yards on the other side of the canal, which is good for us, but bad for them I guess.
