Does anyone else remember watching this documentary? I saw it in the mid-to-late '80s, a few years after it was made.

I remember two things about it: 1) it was narrated by Burt Lancaster, and 2) featured an interview with the mayor of Morgan City, who said that someday MC would be sacrificed to save NO.

Yes, I remember it well. It was based on a document by two LSU professors Katzmann and Johnson. The capture of the Mississippi by the Atchalaya is thought to be inevitable either at the ORCS or via levee failure in the vicinty. The results would be catasthophic. sleep well

Am I a bad person that I chuckled at this?

well, as a citizen of NO, I thank MC for their impending sacrifice. May their families stay safe and none of their belongings seriously damaged.

However, looking at some recent pictures, it seems that the Basin would flood even without Morganza opening. I don't really know anything though...

I tried for 30 minutes to find it on the web, but all I found were references and reviews. Pity, I'd really like to see it.

I also tried to find it online, but got nowhere

It's not on YouTube or at PBS.org

I'm surprised some La college doesn't have it online
