no, its not connected in anyway to the Mississippi, its actually pretty low right now from this drought

I was kayaking last week on the Amite, its low and could use a little water.....

I heard an old geezer sitting at a bar down there this weekend swear that the flow from the bonnet carre was going to back up lake maurpaus and its tributaries. I politely disagreed but he was pretty adament. He must of had one to many of those Buttwipers he was drinking.

Anyways, from my experience the local rainfall and wind (southeast mostly) plays more of a roll in flooding down there.
