Program to create print advertisement?

I need a simple program to create ads in for my business. What would be the fastest one to learn to use? I am not looking for the fanciest...most of what I do is for black and white print advertising.

The pro's (myself included) use adobe illustrator but any cheep program where you can include photos, have some typographic flexibility and can output it as a hi resolution tif or jpeg or as a pdf or eps file will work.
If you find something on the interweb and want me to look at it just post a link.
Good Luck

As you can imagine, it depends how "fancy" you want to get...
I am sure that OfficeMax or Office Depot have some cheap software for such...by Broderbund or similar.
Microsoft Publisher is decent.
CorelDraw can do it all.
Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Indesign are professional grade.
QuarkXPress is professional grade.
Anybody have open source alternatives? I've played with Inkscape. It is nice (I much prefer AI).
