Need help making GIFs

I made my first gif today (see above result) using photoshop and a tutorial I found online. The results aren't bad, but that said, can anyone offer advice on keeping file size low without sacrificing too much quality?
For this gif I had to upload only every fifth frame, lower colors to 128, put lossy at 40, and then after all that I still had to lower the pixels by 15-20% to get it down to the 2MB limit for imgur.

Here is the problem. 2mb doesn'tleave you with a whole lot of options for quality. I spend 3 bucks a month for a Photobucket account 20mb limit on file size there. Maybe there are better deals out there than that. Having said that I rarely have to lower below full quality (256 colors and all settings maxed). Every now and then if I have about a 400 frame gif I may upload every other frame but it is rare. I usually upload every
frame to Photoshop for final output. Hope this helps you.
BTW: link me to the clip you used and I will upload you a full quality version to my Photobucket account for you.
