Help making a logo

Dear Fark Gods. I’ve spent hours trying to design a logo for my son’s baseball team. I drew a logo by hand, uploaded to ms paint, and after a bunch of tinkering came up with this. 
Is there a program that I can use that will pretty much do this for me and all I have to do is enter the letters I want? I’m trying to make something like the LSU baseball logo. Thanks for any help and tips.

Also I have one more question/request. How do I save an image so it doesn’t have a box around it like here with the black box? Same with the hat logo. Everytime I upload it has the white box around the letters and I have to color in around it.

Don't use ms paint. Download a free program like gimp or Inkscape.
As for the background issue, you need to make the background transparent or have no background at all and save it in a suitable format, such as a .png
