best way to make animated gifs?

Very basic walk through

The kid who made this video is a little obnoxious but when I was trying to learn on my own I watched this exact video to start out. There are several other tutorials out there but this lays out the absolute basics.

It is all trial and error...if you understand the concept of a flip book and have some basic knowledge of image manipulation in GIMP you can make an animated GIF.

If you have a YouTube video you can take it to gifsoup.com and cut out about 15 seconds of it. Some times I will do this first. Then load it into GIMP and start pasting heads, lol. Kind of a down and dirty quick gif.

Only problem is gifsoup seams to work about 25% of the time, the other 75% it F's with you.
