That is just crazy. Tolbert did everything for them yesterday. Mathews will never be able to block the way Tolbert can. Tolbert is the better pass catcher. He's the better short yardage back. The only thing Mathews has on him is speed.

isn't tolbert hurt?

Tolbert leaves after stellar day: San Diego RB Mike Tolbert left Sunday's game against Minnesota with an apparent leg injury. Tolbert, who accounted for a career-high three touchdowns before leaving, limped off the field while grabbing the back of his leg. He was also seen grimacing in pain while trainers attended to him on the sideline and did not return. Tolbert punished the Vikings and caught two passes for touchdowns and registered another rushing score. He finished with 12 carries for 35 yards, including a 7-yard TD scamper. Tolbert also netted 58 receiving yards on nine receptions.

Morris regrets Week 1 use of Blount: The St. Petersburg Times reports that Buccaneers coach Raheem Morris admitted on Monday that he may have abandoned the running game too early in his Week 1 loss to the Lions after going with a two-minute offense to start the second half while trailing by only one touchdown. "We have a weapon in Blount, we want to be able to run the ball with him,'' Morris said Monday. "Maybe as a coach, I went too fast, I went too early to the two-minute offense. But I wanted to get something going, get something generated, get (quarterback Josh Freeman) some confidence and get all those guys going. And it worked to the standpoint that we were able to get back into the game. But we didn't have to do it like that. Maybe we went to it too early. That's something for me to second-guess, that's something for me to improve, that's something for me to get better at.''
you may have abandoned the run?

UPDATE: During his postgame session with reporters, Tolbert said he “got rolled up on,” but he didn’t exactly appear concerned. “It’s a part of football put some dirt on it and move on.”

Sure. What exactly are we betting on, how much, and what odds do I get since Mathews is the starter?

You're dumb.
Mathews probably will end up with more carries SINCE HE IS THE STARTING RB. They split yesterday but I fully expect it to be something like 60/40 Mathews/Tolbert the rest of the year.
Never once said Tolbert would get more carries than Mathews. Just argued that he wasn't going to have some type of diminished role going forward which is specifically what you were arguing.
Side note: Tolbert was targeted with passes NINE TIMES and had NINE CATCHES.

Vincent Jackson:
Thanks alot rivers!
quote:
San Diego WR Vincent Jackson had two receptions for 31 yards in the Chargers' 24-17 win over Minnesota in Week 1. Jackson was targeted just three times by San Diego QB Philip Rivers, five targets less than the leading Chargers' wide receiver (Malcom Floyd). Rivers overthrew a wide-open Jackson on what would have been a sure touchdown pass late in the second quarter. Rivers stood with his hands on his head after the play
Thanks alot rivers!

Chargers were lucky to win that game. But Vikings are so awful a loss at home to them would have been a travesty.
