The ATL Fantasy Football Thread: Week 1

Projections this week:

Swamp Donkeys vs Bob Wickman's Gut - I think there's one key player in this matchup that a lot is going to ride on and that is Ray Rice for volfan. Rice is up against Pitt this week and Pitt completely shut him down in both matchups last year. He had less than 80 total yards in both games combined. Swamp Donkeys doesn't have many great matchups this week with Romo vs the Jets and Wayne missing Manning but I believe White, MJD, and the two Chargers all have solid games. From the other side, there's some question marks at the WR position with Maclin being out all preseason and Ocho joining his new squad. I'm gonna have to see them perform before I give them any love.

Prediction: Swamp Donkeys win by 15

31 World Order vs John Rocker Loves NY - Yahoo projects this game really close and I tend to agree with them. I like Hull's team better overall right now but this week is tough. Who knows how the Titans are gonna use CJ with him missing most of training camp and Dez gets to go up against that Jets secondary and let's not forget, he still has to prove himself. 31's Matchups are quite a bit better but there's one main thing that concerns me, and that is starting 4 players from the same team(ATL, of course). Atlanta is in Chicago this week playing on that shitty grass so that should slow the game down some. I'm not expecting a huge game from any of those players, besides maybe Turner. Gah this game is gonna be close.

Prediction: Graham has a nice game tonight and Hull wins in a very close one

Gustavo Fring vs Lowe Must Gowe - I'm not shy to admit that I'm a RB guy first and foremost and the edge in that category goes to Dan this week. I like Stafford for him this week in what should be a helluva game against the Bucs. Lowe Must Gowe's best RB in Mendy had 3 chances to put together a solid game against Baltimore last year and did not succeed from a yardage standpoint. I like Nicks this week but don't really trust anyone else on this team right now.

Prediction: Gustavo Fring wins

Who is Delgado? vs Caplewood - The first thing that jumps out to me when I look at this matchup is Collie, Britt, and Foster for Caple. How is Collie gonna do without Manning? How is Britt going to do with a new QB? Will Foster even be effective if he does happen to suit up? This are all questions I'm not sure I like the answer to. On the other side, Charles should completely go off week 1 against the Bills D and all others should have solid games. Okie just has the much better team right now.

Prediction: Okie wins in a not so close game.

Fredi the Tactician vs Pilots Penis Kickers - To be honest, I like most all of the matchups for both teams this game. None should cause too much damage so I expect both teams to put up some points. Knowing that, I gotta go with who I think has the best team. Give me the team with McCoy and Best at RB rather than Wells and Tolbert.

Prediction: Fredi the Tactician wins

Rolldatroll vs All I do is Nguyen - A lot of this matchup will be known tonight as there are a combined 5 players playing tonight between the two teams. Roll has Rodgers, Colston, and Kasey. Tchamp has Brees and Jennings. Overall, both teams are really evenly matched and I expect this game to be as close as Hull's and 31's game. I'll give the edge to whichever QB scores more points tonight and the homer in me says Brees.

Prediction - All I do is Nguyen barely pulls out the W

A lot of crazy matchups this week. I don't think Yahoo has projected any team to win by more than like 5 so it'll be interesting for sure. Good luck to all teams, besides volfrick.
