Considering claiming him off the waiver wire. His UTIL position seems useful, maybe in one of the more shallow fantasy baseball position groups (Catcher, Shortstop). My team is pretty good overall except I have Arcia at SS and Lucroy at C. You think Ohtani could be a better option there?

ETA: not sure how much PT he will actually get, but seems like at the worst he could be an okay stash.

Doesn’t utility mean he can play any position?

First question, in what bunk arse league would Ohtani be sitting on the WW to start the season?

That being said the OP doesn't seem legit.

As a pitcher he’s 94% owned, the batter is only 34% owned and still available on most waiver wires

A yahoo league where he is 2 seperate players.

He went undrafted as a hitter and his pitching counterpart went with the #2 pick (after 10 keeper rounds) in my only yahoo league FWIW

I dont think he's gonna get enough ABs to be useful as a hitter in a standard league. Maybe in a 16T+ legaues or if u have really deep rosters.

And no, utility means you can only play him at UT. A bad thing for roster flexibility

Okay so he’s pretty much useless as a hitter. Thanks for the input though

he just hit another HR

he should gain 1B eligibility. If he keeps hitting he will be in the lineup

Wasnt too impressed with his hitting stats from Japan (poor plate discipline) but i see he just homered again.

If he starts getting 4-5 DH starts a week.. who knows he could scratch out standard league value.
