14. Jew T
Batting – Jew has maybe 3-4 guys that are going to be on a major league roster by spring training. He is currently a lock to lose 4 hitting categories with OPS being up in the air. Bryant, Soler, Correa, Buxton and Baez are can’t miss prospects and I like what Peterson brings to the table. It’s going to be ugly this year though.

Pitching – He should be able to be more competitive here, with enough players to meet his innings limit. Guys like Bradley, Stroman and Wheeler have decent upside, and the youngsters in the minors have talent, but not like his hitting prospects.

Outlook – This is going to be another ugly year for Jew. It’s obvious that his game plan is to acquire young talent and build that way. Next year he will have a lot to look forward to but he is still a few years away from competing.

Suggestions – In this league you can go from worst to first very quickly. Keep the “can’t miss” prospects and begin adding good players around them. Jew could be in the hunt as early as next year if he goes this route.

13. Wiseguy
Batting – There’s some solid speed on this team with Altuve and Brantley. Crawford could swipe 20 bags. Joey Bats and Prince should provide solid pop, but week in and week out, he could struggle on offense. Not a bad offense, just not as good as the teams ranked ahead.

Pitching – I don’t see an ace on the team, although I do like Teheran. Hamels could definitely be that guy, we’ll see. Chapman is obviously a stud. One of the remaining SP will need to step up and he can definitely play the matchups each week and be competitive.

Outlook – I think the team has some nice pieces, but week to week he’s going to need some luck to make the playoffs.

Suggestions – I’d look to see where he stands in a month. If he’s out of the hunt, maybe begin trying to acquire picks and upgraded keepers. A lack of early draft picks really hurt his chances this year. With so many good teams in this league, that’s probably the best route to take.

12. Rick
Batting – Rick has some nice pieces on offense but no real elite player (yet). Springer could very well be that guy. I love Cespedes in Detroit’s offense and think he will outplay his current projections. Wieters will have a bounce back campaign and be one of the best fantasy catchers. The bench is very thin, and I think he’s going to be a hot and cold team week to week.

Pitching – Tons of upside here, but there are concerns. Tanaka dominated last season. Will he be healthy or ultimately opt for TJ? How will Wainwright look? Do we really know who Pineda is? Lester was a great addition and he’s got a couple of nice relievers. Rick could have one of the better staffs if things go his way.

Outlook – I see a boom or bust team. With so many question marks I’m ranking him low right now, but if things work out he’s a team that could be fighting for the 6th playoff spot.

Suggestions – The offense needs some help. Maybe deal one of those starters if they get hot.

11. G$
Batting – Nice group of speedsters here. Hamilton, Dyson, Stubbs and Pagan are enough to win steals most weeks, plus I think Puig swipes 20+ bags. Krush Davis, Puig and Nelly Cruz supply most of the pop. The IF is pretty meh but the bench has some guys with upside.

Pitching – Cueto is the horse that will carry this staff. Wood is more of a number 3 guy and I am not a big fan of Weaver, but I did like the pickup of Kennedy and Tillman. Three locked in closers always help, led by Holland who is right there with Chapman as the best at the position. He should be competitive in the pitching categories each week.

Outlook - There are enough pieces here to field for a competitive team. I don’t think we can expect Cruz to drop 40 bombs again, and Davis really needs to play like he did 2 years ago. Puig will be a star, and the pitching is good enough to win 5 categories any given week.

Suggestions – Play the first couple of months out and see what happens. You have a good coreand quality pieces to keep you hanging around. Maybe focus on winning runs and steals every week and build on that. Same with saves. Be a team that can win those categories no matter what and tweak the rest of your lineup from there.

10. VKC
Batting – I see a team without an alpha, but a bunch of solid guys. I love Dozier, Arenado and Gomes in that IF. I think Trumbo will hit 30 bombs this year. Freeman won’t hit a bunch of home runs but is a good RBI and run guy, although his lineup is weak. Some decent speed guys on this team too.

Pitching – Harvey, Fernandez, Kluber…..Cliff Lee as your 6th starter…three closers…oh my. I love the pitching, that’s all I will say.

Outlook – This team reminds me of mine going into last year, because it essentially is. I count 6 players that I had. I also ranked myself 10th I believe and finished a half a game out of the playoffs. If Tanaka had not been hurt, I would have been a lock. I see this team being very similar. The talent is there. If his guys do what they are projected to do, he will be there fighting in the last week of the season.

Suggestions – Teams will need starting pitching. Use what you have to upgrade your offense. You need more pop and have the resources to get it.

9. Louie
Batting – I think I overrated Lou a tad here after second glance. Harper really blew last year. I think this year he rebounds and starts reeling off dominant seasons. Votto, meh. Pence is an underrated player. Ortiz has another good year left in him. Kipnis, Betts and Blackmon will provide the speed. The bench is not bad with Adams leading the way, but I expected better from a team so loaded with picks.

Pitching – King Felix anchors the staff. Degrom, Richards and Wacha are all solid, but the key is all of those damn closers. 6? Kenley and Betances will be top 5 closers when it’s all said and done. Really like what Lou did with this group.

Outlook – Right now, he is a fringe playoff team. He’s got an average offense with great pitching. He definitely has a shot at the playoffs.

Suggestions – This one is obvious and I am sure he’s planning to deal some closers for offensive upgrades.

8. Gyno
Batting – One of the better offensive groups. E5, Kinsler, Beltre, Reyes and Mesoraco. That is one of the best IF in the league. His OF has young, versatile guys that will help in several catefories. I think Alvarez bounces back and comes close to 30 HR and Granderson has another decent year left in him. Offense will carry his team.

Pitching – Not a sexy group but the starters will all get it done, led by Grienke. I seriously considered keeping both Bauer and Latos because I think they will both do well this year. Gyno is obviously punting saves, but his relievers, especially Davis, will be valuable in the other categories.

Outlook – Gyno has finished 1st and 3rd the last two years. He will be in the playoffs. His ranking is not a projection, but what I think of his roster as a hole. He’s the best manager in the league.

Suggestions – Pick up a closer or two when team sell out. Add another starter when you make your run.

7. Papz
Batting – It’s no secret what his strategy was going into the year, as he kept 8 bats I believe. His offense is loaded. I had previously ranked it #2 but it could be the best if things play out. V-Mart, Cano, Longo, A-Gon, Pujols…those vets will get it done. I expext Myers to finally be relevant and Polanco will outplay his projections. Seager is a beast. Just a solid group up and down the lineup.

Pitching – The starters are nothing special, at all. It’s not a bad group but I usually like to have at least one sure fire #1 guy. Shields and Ross are nice, but to me they are really closer to #3 fantasy tier pitchers. There is nice depth though. It also doesn’t hurt to have 2 closers.

Outlook – Papz finished with the best record last year I think. He knows what it takes to win and will be in the hunt. He could finish anywhere from 1 to 8.

Suggestions – Trade a bat and land a top notch starter to anchor your staff.

6. Lester Earl
Batting – I didn’t like his keepers but I think he filled holes nicely in the draft. McCann will be a top offensive cather. Wong is one of the better fantasy 2b in a solid lineup. Wright may actually be underrated, and I really like Hosmer this year. Upton, Braun, Gardner is a nice OF.

Pitching – I love the Sale – Cole combo up top. They should be good enough to carry the staff each week. I think Verlander has a considerably better year than he did last year. One closer right now in Allen, but Giles should eventually get that job in Philly.

Outlook – I think this is a pretty balanced team. The pitching and batting aren’t dominant per say but good enough to win each week.

Suggestions – I’d probably try to pick up another closer somewhere down the line. That’s pretty much all I can say.

5. PCT
Batting – I think I have enough to win the slugging categories most weeks. Carter will drop bombs. Jones is a sure thing to hit 30ish. Tulo could be the MVP if he stays healthy, and Frazier & Santana will approach 30 again on the corners. I like Eaton at the top of the White Sox order and I expect Rios and Alcides to run wild in KC.

Pitching – Bumgarner and Zimmerman are one of the better duos in the league. Liriano is solid and I think Holland will be really good. I have two closers who are average and League could get me some saves for a week or two. The non-closers are good.

Outlook – Honestly, I think I have a team that can contend with the best of them or I could be on the outside looking in like last year.

Suggestions – Don’t over manage the team and try to pick up a closer down the road.

4. Chat
Batting – I really like the blend of pop and speed. Moss will approach 30 HRs. Donaldson could go the F off in Toronto. Desmond provides a lot of pop from the SS position and Posey is no scrub, Dee Gordon – Ahhhh, I regret not keeping him because he will win you steals each week and should have a lot of runs…and then you team him with Ellsbury. Not the best offense in the league, but it’s really good.

Pitching – Love the trio of Sherzer, Price and Cobb. The other SPs are solid too. I count 3 closers as well. This is one of the top pitching staffs in the league.

Outlook – Chat has a team set up to contend. I’d be surprised if he missed the playoffs.

Suggestions – Maybe try to add another utility bat or two. Other than that, you’re good.

3. Will
Batting – Trout is the best offensive player in the league. Abreau isn’t far behind him. Those two guys will carry the offense. Machado is solid and I think Martin could be a top 40 player this year. Sucks losing Profar already but the offense won’t miss him much. Heyward – it’s now or never. That lineup he’s in will give him opportunities.

Pitching – Samardzija is the ace – that was a solid get in the draft. Gio Gonzales is a low-end #2 with #1 upside. I like the depth with Miller, Hutchison (breakout year) and Archer. Two closers are on the roster led by Kimbrell. Soria could take Nathan’s job too.

Outlook – Last year Will wasn’t expected to make it as far as he did. This year he’s locked in as a title contender.

Suggestions – Try adding a top-end starter. If not, you’re still set.

2. Clams
Batting – Rizzo, McCutchen, Cargo…that’s a great big 3. Lucroy is one of the better fantasy catchers and I like Castro this year. If Cargo is healthy, you should have some good speed. The offense is pretty balanced.

Pitching – Kershaw, Strasburg – the best duo hands down. Ventura will beast this year. Two closers on the squad. The pitching is top notch.

Outlook – Title contender for sure.

Suggestions – Maybe try adding some pop.

1.Earl
Batting – Stanton, Goldschmidt, Gomez, Miggy, Rendon….all on one team. Unfair. I think you are pretty top heavy but you did a decent job filling holes around them. Gallo and Russell are waiting for their turn. Well done.

Pitching – Yu is the ace of the staff. There are some concerns with his health. Right now, he’s a top 5 SP. I like Gray and Arietta too. Gausman and Odorizzi could break out. With 3 closers, this is a really solid pitching staff.

Outlook – Right now, Earl has to be the team to beat. I don’t think he is a slam dunk to repeat, but he starts the year up top.

Suggestions - None

He is the ace for Will's team, not the White Sox. I think he can be a top 14 pitcher though, sure.

Seems like VKC and PCT had Lester as the best SP in the draft. I like 4 or 5 guys better than him, Samardijiza being one of them

The way TDBL has developed with 12 keepers and so many teams in constant rebuild the off-season market for a 30 yr old SP is going to be pretty small...most of your potential buyers will have the arms they need.

I know Earl won't trade for a SP.

Just don't see how Darvish can be considered top 5. It would be easily debatable he's not top 5 even if health wasn't an issue, and the health outlook has become concerning.
