Trade deadline is fine. Free agent deadline doesn't make much sense to me.

I dont know how else to explain it. It rewards teams that dont prepare for injuries. It takes away what little bit of skill is left in fantasy. Dont want to stash an extra QB on your bench because you want to hold onto a pipe dream handcuff RB, then that is a risk you are willing to take. You shouldnt be rewarded/not punished if your QB goes on IR when you didnt plan ahead for it by not having that backup because you were hoarding RB's and didnt have the roster space.

The same thing that happened to the bills can happen any week though. In the blink of an eye any team could lose a starter and backup. The only thing I'm in favor of is non playoff teams not allowed to grab free agents.

Real NFL teams can add FAs throughout the season and into the playoffs

If Im in the playoffs and the guy im playing has to go to free agency to find someone to start, I cannot say that im mad about it

Exactly.

Eta: And it isn't rewarding teams that don't prepare for injuries. It's allowing them to put out the best roster they think they can, just like every other week of the season. You can't prepare for the possibility that every player on your team could be injured unless you have a shitton of bench spots.

Do yall all carry multiple kickers, defenses, TEs?

To be clear, I play in leagues with 20 roster spots so we have the bench depth.

I take my chance on kickers, but off course I carry two defenses and two TE's into the playoffs. Then again, Im playing in leagues where all roster transactions are cut off at wk 12.

Now that's dumb. There wouldn't be anyone on the wire to begin with. Your whole point is moot because off this one detail. Both my teams in the championship only have 6 and 7 roster spots.

That's because real NFL teams are only 4 deep at a given position like RB . In fantasy, you have every team to choose from at any given position x2 at least. Real NFL teams typically will need at least 2 tailbacks (likely 3) and 1 fullback in any given game. If they lose 2 backs in one game, it's a major blow to the organization. Real NFL teams should be allowed to pick up FA's in a siutation like that due to nature of the game and the likelihood of playing time and depth need for a real NFL game. In fantasy, you just have to have 2 healthy backs on youre entire roster to play typically. You can carry 6, lose 4 in one wk and still be able to fill out an entire starting lineup. It may be a crappy one, but that's where the skill with depth comes in. You cant just say "well NFL teams do it, so can we. See! It makes sense!". They are not one in the same.

Lol, it's not dumb. It's just different. We draft 20 rounds. IMO, there's more skill needed drafting a team like that then there is adding the waiver wire flavor of the wk after an injury occurs, no?

No one plays in 20 roster spot leagues though nor do they lock rosters in week 12. So you are arguing a dumb policy that maybe 1% of fantasy leagues implement. You cannot carry 6 RBs on a roster in a normal league. That is practically your whole bench.

I know the NFL/Fantasy arent one in the same. The free agency/waiver system in fantasy mimics the NFL system, though. NFL and Fantasy Free agents are wide open for any team to add throughout the season. If a guy is waived in fantasy or the NFL, there is a determined order for which the teams get a crack at adding the guy. Every team has the same opportunity to add FAs or claim a guy on waivers when it comes to playoff time.
