Well the responses were not how I thought they would go

Although I was 100-percent certain that Rondo would respond with, "Trout", but even then he said, "Mike Trout." So I missed on that prediction.

I was hoping owners would divulge more into their pick selection and why they made it, so it could better prepare me for later drafts.

Case in point, my Round 12 selection of Khris Davis:

I was debating between Davis and Ken Giles there. Went with the 27-year-old bat, Giles was taken later that round.

Davis had a dismal .299 OBP last year that was marred by a pair of months where he walked a combined 3 times.

However, his MiLB OBP finished at .392 in 415 games, and he walked 8, 8, 7 and 6 times in the other four months of the year.

The splits were similar: .777 vs left, and .749 vs right.

So I went with Davis. Which means Parra is likely to see the majority of at-bats in left for Milwaukee.

I made it a point to draft MI early and wait on SPs... and I still like my SPs even though I missed out on the "Aces" out there. It'll hurt my K/9, which is the biggest drop from the top tier and second tier SPs, but I drafted set up men late to hopefully counter that out. Worst case, I'll lose K/9 more often than not, but it's acceptable to have a MI that I really like.

There were several SPs I liked that I was sniped on, notably Arrieta, Fiers, and Kennedy, but oh well, that second tier of SPs is deep.

I'm hoping Allen Craig recovers from his foot issues and finds some PT out there. He could put up some good numbers with regular ABs in Boston.

that lineup could be a juggling act all season long. Deep.

I made it a point to lock up a MI, a CI, an OF, and a SP in my first four picks.

Didn't think in my wildest dreams that I would have gotten the four that I did.

I would have given more but then I had flashbacks of hating all of my subsequent picks.

having a 40 pick gap fricking sucks.

Your hand is forced to reach for shite.

I was happy where I got Carrasco and Verlander.

My bad Wise Guy. I didn't understand the intent. A few quickie notes:

As I previously stated - In a dynasty startup, I always put a premium on ceiling. I don't want to go prospects right at the start, but it usually doesn't take me long to start dipping my beak into those pools.

When going MLB types, I prefer the "post-hype" guys. People tend to think a player that comes up and struggles for a few years sucks (especially with the Trouts and Brauns of recent memory) but I like to grab the guys with talent, but injury issues that have slowed them down (Belt, Gyorko, Profar). The talent doesn't disappear. It's just a circumstance thing.

I'm also a gambler. If I think someone will explode soon, I go out and get them earlier than most or for more trade pieces than most. It's a gut thing for me. Some people a more risk-averse and I understand/appreciate that.

I devalue pitching for two obvious reasons. First, you're always one UCL tear from losing them for two years. Second, the position is incredibly deep and you can get 75% of the value for 10% of the cost.

I could go on, but I don't have time.

I was also willing to go even more Astrotard and grab McHugh, but he was scooped up.

I didn't expect Correa to last until the back end of round 5... I thought for sure when I went with Frazier in 4 that I missed my chance.

Yeah I like to get players in the shallowest positions first.

Sort of forced my Reyes pick which ended up being my least favorite pick

I don't know how much it would help. With the way certain teams built their squads, there was a lot of unexpected value to be had. With the majority of our other leagues, we already have a keeper set and just select complimentary players to surround it. You could also see some of the guys who came from the points league put a big emphasis on pitching as well. This draft was a big out of the norm IMO.

I don't think Reyes was a bad pick... a proven SS at #80, he's not 38 or anything.

I'm sure Earl would disagree though.

research throughout the draft that I didn't do because the player was gone before I even thought about picking him. Nuggets and tidbits...shite like that.

I have no problem with Reyes in a vacuum. I just prefer to be on the front side of the production curve. Not the back side. Is there risk involved with my philosophy? Sure. But Reyes could break his ankle tomorrow as well. Might as well swing for the fence by grabbing a high-ceiling guy that will provide sustainable production IMO.

Like I had mentioned, I gambled on Machado at 1.18 since I wanted to make sure I grabbed a young bat. I was happy to follow that up with Justin Upton at 2.3, Carlos Gonzalez at 3.18, and Ellsbury at 4.3. Which sort of leads me to my best pick, Greinke at 5.18. I wanted to wait on a pitcher and still grab an ace, and he was one of the last aces I had on the board. So I was happy with that.

I was actually able to grab most of the guys I was targeting coming in. I had considered most of these guys a few rounds earlier and ended up waiting and getting them anyway: Taijuan Walker, Garrett Richards, Shelby Miller, Lawrie, Bundy, and Cliff Lee,

I somewhat regret not grabbing an OF a little earlier, but I'm ok with what i have there. Cain, Calhoun, and melky should be decent for me.

I was thinking about hoarding a bunch INF guys just to screw with everyone but the OF market was getting thin. There was countless of times I was going to take David Wright but backed out. The same with Nick Franklin, Flores, among other. And I don't know if Rondo or Barry were targeting Headley, but I only took him because they were missing a third baseman.

I just blanked on him in my mind.

Completely forgot about how dominating he is with the 95+ FB with sinking movement that looked unhittable at times.
