You’re missing the point. It’s not about making decisions easier

It’s about adding more value to other positions to make them more on par with the others. As we stand now, no one is like “oh let me hold this 2B, I gotta fill this spot eventually”. No, it’s too easy to find one

Also Increases value of prospects. As of now the top ~50 may have value

Increases value of draft picks. Outside of the first ~3, the 2nd rd picks hold the same value of 1sts

Adds more strategy

Adds a purer dynasty experience

The MLB active roster moved to 26 and we're at 25. I don't see it being a problem adding another reserve spot.

Yea I don’t think the reserve spots adds as much value as an actually active spot would

Was contemplating getting into a NFBC league then noticed that DFS and odds betting wasn't the only types of online gambling Louisiana is shut out of.

Didn't want to do another redraft league this year but I figured if the pot is right I might be interested.

Think we have enough posters to do a NFBC Main Event type league? Say..3 leagues of 12

I tried to get into a high stakes one too, didn’t realize we couldn’t. I’d be down though

Im likely entering a few teams in the NFBC Online Championship this year. First year taking a chance.

Synopsis?

Depends on the type of league you want to enter. There are quite a few options.

NFBC Online that I am likely entering is $350 per team. Will be close to 2000 total teams broken down into 12-team leagues. If you finish top two in your individual 12-team league, you win money. Then the top 25 teams overall also win a money. The #1 overall team wins $150,000.

Individual league payouts wont be as much as usual as a portion of each buy in goes into the overall winners pot, obviously.

Standard 5x5 roto scoring. Snake draft. 2 catchers, 5 OF, 1 UT, 1 MI, 1 CI along with the other standard positions.

But there are also best ball leagues, draft & hold leagues, auction drafts, live in person drafts, etc... Some entry fees are as low as $25 (I think) up to $15,000.

edit: And there are individual leagues too. You dont have to enter something with 2000 entries. You can enter a individual, 15-team roto for instance at whatever buy in you want. And it is no trade, FAAB of $1000.

I'd definitely play

Edit2: NFBC is basically like the world series of poker, just for fantasy baseball. They run leagues for all fantasy sports too (football, baseball, NBA, NHL)

So there are roto leagues? I was under the assumption they were all points leagues because not all roto leagues are equal. Teams are only as good as the level of owners in the league.

But I thought I read one League was roto and then the top 25 was calculated by adding teams’ final stats.

Only other thing that stuck out is that they’re weekly leagues.

NFBC Contests

That link is for the actual NFBC contests. Majority of them are roto leagues. Definitely the high stakes leagues and the Online Championship that I am looking into are standard roto.

I dont play points leagues so I never look into those.

I think there are also other websites & promotions that promote contests that follow NFBC format just with different scoring types (Roto, points, etc...). They may not be a part of the actual NFBC though. Thats just a guess

Roto and cumulative stats for overall

quote:

$150 Draft Champions leagues will use a 5x5 Rotisserie scoring system. Cumulative totals will be used for the following categories:

Batting Average
Home Runs
RBIs
Stolen Bases
Runs
Wins
Saves
Earned Run Average
Strikeouts
WHIP Ratio (walks plus hits divided by innings pitched)

Teams are ranked by comparing their team totals to the other teams in their league. The team with the best total in each category receives 15 points and the team with the worst total receives 1 point.

For Contests with Overall rankings, Overall points are calculated by ranking your team's statistics totals versus all other teams in the NFBC contest.

I read that as it is still standard roto. It takes all the winners of each individual league and compares the roto scores they put up to all other winners to determine the 25 best teams. Maybe I am misinterpreting it.

And yes it is weekly lineups. But on Fridays you can change up your hitters. So set lineups each Monday, but can reset hitters on Friday

quote:

NFBC team owners are also allowed to switch out any hitter (or hitters) from their starting lineup and replace him with a hitter from their reserve roster on Fridays. The deadline for doing that is 5 minutes before the start of that player's game on Friday or 5 minutes before Saturday's start time if that player's team is off on Friday. Pitchers will not be allowed to be moved out of your starting lineup at any time during the season; what is set on Monday remains for the remainder of the week for all pitchers. If there is an MLB tie-breaker game or games at the start of a new week, NFBC owners are allowed to reset their starting lineups for that game or games

Thinking something like this?

Using $150 buy in -

3 leagues x 12 owners = $5400 money pool
Each individual league winner = $500
Each individual league runner up = $200
Overall Top 3 teams:
1st = $2000
2nd = $900
3rd = $400

Would also have to deduct league fees (or make buy in $154)

I think we're on the same page now with scoring.

Weekly it will be. Want to try to keep it as close to NFBC as possible. Wins as a category can kick sand

Fantrax says they can setup that kind of league configuration.

quote:

Hi, as long as all the leagues are of the same sport, then yes. Under league setup --> general, you would enable duplicate players across divisions. Set up different divisions, each with their own draft and player pool. It would all be tracked in the same league.

That was pretty much the calculations I was thinking last night but I didn't have an idea on payout. Will also try to see how big a buy-in the FSB is willing to go.

Will make a post to gauge interests on Monday.

I really don’t get why my Astericks don’t give this guy a legit shot in the rotation.

Two 70-grade breaking pitches and 95 with an easy delivery.
