Hopefully it's just a dying trend kinda like Chip Kelly's offense.

I'm a little surprised no reliever heavy playoff team has made an inquiry on Stanek. His "opener" title can garner 2 starts a week, high K/9, and can pick up a hold every now and then inbetween starts. I do think(more like hope) he'll be their closer next year though.

He’s a gold mine

But it’s also not the spirit of the rule and why it was implemented

Sure we can

I think the extra position eligibility for some players due to shifting is a lot more ghey.

I’m right there too

How to manage that tho?

With the minimum innings pitched situation I think is simple. Drop it down to 30 innings minimum pitched and scrap the must get 6 starts in.

That’s more in line with why the rule was implemented in the first place — to reach a minimum threshold each week without loading up on RP

Innings pitched is a category up for grabs. Just makes sense.

I may have found the solution to my SP woes on the waiver wire. Matt Boyd and Tanner Roark gonna take me to the promised land.

... or just make it a flat 35 across the board and be done with it.

I believe, and Redd corrected me if I’m wrong, the 6 minimum starts was implemented in case a team had a bevy of starters get knocked out the game early, leaving the team short of the 35 IP requirement.

Look no further than Steven Matz being seen tonight.

Dropping down to 30 addresses that issue.

I'm not into lowering the inning limit. That just promotes even more bullpening. I think if more major league teams were doing this, then it would be an issue. While I think it's a trend they are going to continue, as they break in more young pitchers, they're going to do a more traditional pitching staff. They're doing it by necessity right now... to a certain extent. But if there's a real concern for it, it doesn't hurt to talk about it first and nip it in the butt before it does become a problem.

On the position issues, I guess make games started the primary factor in retaining elgibility for the following season. Something like that.

i guess i dont understand what you think the issue is.

Steven matz getting knocked out of the game early? He still gets credit for that game started. What does lowering the IP limit help that cause?

I'll probably regret Roark... Boyd not so much. I got Samardzija on the cheap!

Alright. I can be on board for just 35 innings. Doesn’t matter to me

But I do think we need to
