You're in 14th fricking place, you got time to figure out how to add another SP between now and the time you're ready to be good again
Posted on 6/29/17 at 4:19 pm to GynoSandberg
this sweet talk is making me want to deal.
LOL how teams are berated for selling out or checking out. I'm over here trying to win every week and I got yatty magyars giving me shite for my place in the standings.

Didn't you just tell giraffe to frick off a few days ago?

You're selling out or checking out by adding young MLB bats?
you have a 32 year old SS ops'n 655 and a revolving door at OF. Improve now and in the future maybe
A little needs based trading Ron. If I had a SP to give I wouldn't be asking for one. That would be for you to figure out

The demand for good SPs is at an all time high right now. Someone like Greinke could probably pull in a nice haul if he was OTB. Problem is that nobody seems to have enough depth to be willing to deal a good SP.

Depends what you consider a nice haul. I know teams at the top like papzy, LE, wisey aren't paying a premium for a SP bc they are built through hitting and will piece together a smorgasbord of SP/RP and conpete w that. 30+ year old SPs are out there, but they can be ticking time bombs
You're gonna see SPs go once a good player gets hurt for the year, or someone falls head over heels for a prospect centric type of deal
Look at a deal like the kluber deal. fricks the demand and haul for a guy like that? Who really knows what the market is or who values what

Ummm what?
But besides me looking for specific 3B, I've only received, without first making an offer, maybe like two legit offers for SP.

That's my point though. Everyone wants SP, but nobody wants to pay for them. It's weird.

Swamie, send me an offer for a good SP instead of an offer for Hamilton.
Posted on 6/29/17 at 5:04 pm to reddman
Everyone's roster is so thin that to move a pitching piece for a hitting piece can seriously undermine your pitching or hitting, depending. Finding a good trade fit is tough in this league.

I wouldn't mind getting Springer from you at all, my problem is once I trade one of my guys, I don't have that same SP cushion to go after a 3B in the off season.
And the only teams out of it with a 3B worth going after has already said they're likely holding on to him.

we could probably make a deal, but that would depend on you making Castellanos your future 3B

These type of deals set the market. You're talking top 10-top15 SP
Trumbo for Quintana
Trumbo/kinsler for degrom
Kluber/Martin for weaver/tom Murphy/barreto
Greinke/Bruce for carasco/lawrie
Draw your own conclusions from it. Need bases trades, bad teams adding assets kind of stuff

And watch the offseason - everyone wants hitting for their aging SPs once they can't get deals done. Then the hitting comes back at a premium. Happens every year - check the trannys and dialogue

I got so frustrated with the process a couple of months ago that I just said frick it and started rostering as many SP as possible in the hopes that 3-4 pan out by the time I'm ready to make my move.
