Dynasty Draft Resources
Posted by Corporal Beavis on 8/10/22 at 1:47 pm00
Joined a Dynasty League that is playing for a decent amount of money and we've got the draft coming in the next couple weeks. I've played standard leagues for years, used to love listening to Field Yates and Matthew Berry but fell off since the leagues weren't playing for much. What podcasts, websites etc provide good insight? I'm looking for both advice on general mindset as well as specific rankings for this year.

Dynasty Nerds is probably the biggest Dynasty football brand. FantasyPros has a “B” show for Dynasty content as well
Both are not my cup of tea

I know you are looking for professional advice, but I’ll give you some of my own advice from lessons learned in my startups.
Don’t overdraft guys who probably only have a good year or two left. I had a friend who used his first two picks on David Johnson and Melvin Gordon in 2018, his team went to shite fast.
If it’s superflex, use at least one of your first 3 picks on a QB. I waited too long. I did get lucky getting Carr pretty late.
Don’t be hesitant to take a rookie, I drafted schmucks ahead of AJ Brown and DK Metcalf in one of my start ups. In my superflex draft, two teams drafted pretty much all rookies and they were competing by year 2.
Wide receivers are much more valuable than running backs compared to redraft. WRs have much better longevity.

I wouldn’t say wide receivers are more valuable than running backs because reliable running backs are so scarce and there are a ton of viable wide receivers.
But wide receivers typically hold their value longer than running backs.

Yeah, what I meant is the value of WR is much higher in dynasty than it is in redraft, not that WR is much more valuable than RB, especially when you factor in age.
For example, 28 year old Stephon Diggs is ranked way ahead of 28 year old Derrick Henry in dynasty (14 vs 30), in redraft Henry is going ahead of Diggs by a few spots.
Someone who hasn’t done a dynasty draft might see Henry available at 15 and jump on him thinking he’s a steal when that’s actually a massive overdraft.
