Don't get too down yet! It was only the second race of the year. There's a LONG way to go. Of course you need some luck when picking, but you can also educate yourself on some of the tracks and drivers. Here's just one of the 'tools' I use to make my picks.
Racing ReferenceClick on the link and scroll down to 'New on the site:" in red. Click on "Kobalt 400 fact sheet" also in red. There's more info there on past races and the upcoming race than you can digest!
Past performance isn't always an indicator of future success, but some drivers do better at certain tracks than others.

A little early for me to make my final picks yet.
Vegas is the Busch brothers home track and they always do well there. Johnson has the best driver rating there and may be on a roll after Sunday. Chad made a brilliant call pitting early and Harvick should have followed.

This is the first fantasy sport ever played, so I'm just trying to finish above last. I have no idea what's good or not and if I get the hang of it by summer I'll be more "secretive", but it's learning right now and getting as much help I can.

We used to play a league at my office until we discovered the Yahoo leagues but NASCAR is all I've ever played. You will get the hang of it soon. Everyone has their way of making picks, so there's no right or wrong way to go about it. It's all about getting points. I try not to let personal feelings for the drivers interfere with who I pick but I just can't bring myself to pick Ryan Newman! He's a top 20 driver most races but I just can't pick him.
