Howard still qualifies as a stud, IMO. His best days may be behind him though.
I agree here, but he is clearly in decline. Not to say he can't surprise with one last gasp of a season where he puts up top notch numbers, but his lineup is falling apart around him.

Agon is better than fielder imo. Prince is the weakest on dat list.

never question Les Authority

well rouge, 1st base is loaded. Even if you think he is the 6th best, he can still be labeled a stud.
you know how many people have more HRs than Howard the last 3 years?
1- Albert Pujols(126 to 124)
you know how many have more RBI?
ZERO (he has 26 more than Pujols)

All in the past - time to look the future and see the down trend.

But he's never made a sale and caught the office on fire.

nice use of stats to make a point that means nothing for this season
dont focus on the 31 dings he had last season
dont focus on a hurt Utley and no Jason Werth.....think he's going to see the same pitches without all the power bats around him? good luck with that

it takes 2 years at least to see a down trend. So there isnt one to see yet. He had an off 2010 but he is still only 31. I dont think he is trending downward quite yet.
this will be his 6th full major league season in 2011

It's all moot seeing as I wouldn't make that trade for Albert.

Well lucky for you - you get to ride that consistency in to the sunset and off the cliff.
ETA: This being only his 6th major season is irrelevant - he's 31 - age is age in baseball. And it's not like he wasn't playing year round as a minor leaguer.

seriously will, do you really see any manager with a brain pitching to howard with a bunch of average to plus average players around him in the lineup?
pitch to Howard or Ben Francisco? have to think about that one

what part of "the last 3 years" doesnt include last year?

that kind of stuff gets overblown
he could maybe see more pitches if they arent worried about the players around him.
what do you think his numbers will be at the end of this year?

31 is old?
wtf?
is pujols going to fall off too? hes 31
should rouge worry about Texiera?

about the same as last season
still good numbers. i actually think he will have higher OBP because of the walks.
with the Phiilies pitching, opposing teams are not going to let power bats beat them. Ben Francisco will have to prove that he can hit before guys throw to Howard, imho

if it gets that bad, they will make a move for a bat.
btw ibanez is still there. he showed a lot of life in the 2nd half last year.
