It's checked electronically in Louisiana. If I go to the original place of voting they will have the paper book...anywhere else it's via computer to validate with driver license.

There are other things that can be provided if you don't have any of these. The scanning is just an easy way to pull up your name. It can be input. They work from ipads.
Per Texas website:
Here is a list of the acceptable forms of photo ID:
Texas Driver License issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS)
Texas Election Identification Certificate issued by DPS
Texas Personal Identification Card issued by DPS
Texas Handgun License issued by DPS
United States Military Identification Card containing the person’s photograph
United States Citizenship Certificate containing the person’s photograph
United States Passport (book or card)
