Each state is a full partner in this great union that we have. Each state has a certain amount of throw weight and without the electoral college they would not have near as much and they would be reduced to almost nothing in our system.

As it is now states have more of a say so in the Senate, and of course in electing the president. It's harder to gang up on a state or a region the way our system is set up. The founders knew that and when this compromised of governing was suggested it was accepted by all.

Donald Trump is the big winner today, and so is our Constitution and the Electoral College.
